A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Grijalva, age 72, of Thatcher will be celebrated Monday, July 2nd at 11:00 am at St. Rose Lima Catholic Church with Reverend Father Lucero. Viewing will be from 9:00 -11:00 am with Rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. Robert was born June 25, 1939 in the Gila Valley to Merejildo and Antonia Robles Grijalva. Robert attended school in Thatcher and attended Eastern Arizona College. He served the Army National Guard in Safford and worked most of his life in mining. Robert worked at the Anaconda Mine in Sahuararita, Az and retired from Phelps Dodge Copper Mine in Morenci, AZ. He was married to Tirza Valenzuela and made their home in Thatcher. Robert enjoyed working around his home and spending time with his grandson, Joseph. Survivors include: Grandson, Joseph Grijalva of Safford, sisters; Rebecca Arroyos of Tucson, and Vivian Ruiz of Thatcher. Robert was preceded in death by his wife; Tirza and son, Anthony. Arrangements for Robert Grijalva are under the direction of McDougals Caldwell Chapel.
