Robert Lawrence Huffenberger was born on September 9, 1920 in Hamilton, Butler, Ohio to Lawrence and Martha (Rooke) Huffenberger. He was the second and last child. Robert resided 86 years in Hamilton, Ohio before relocating to Safford, Arizona in August 2006. He passed away at the Sunset Hills Care Center in Safford, Graham, Arizona on May 3, 2011. Robert graduated from Hamilton High School in 1938. Shortly thereafter, he married his high school sweetheart, Anna Susanna Yaeger, on March 18, 1939 in Newport, Campbell, Kentucky. They celebrated their 71st anniversary on March 18, 2010. Roberts membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was very important to him. At various times during his life, he served as Ward Clerk, Elders Quorum President, and Sunday School President. While living in the Hamilton LDS Ward, he even assisted with the construction of the original LDS meetinghouse on Pleasant Avenue in Fairfield, Ohio. Their family was sealed for eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on June 20, 1961. Robert was employed by the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company for over 40 years. He was Department Head for the Printing, Record Retention, and Supply Departments. Robert retired from Ohio Casualty Group in December 1983. Robert loved history, reading, tennis and fishing. He traveled to lakes all over the Midwest and he traveled to Florida for saltwater fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his granddaughters. He is survived by his son Robert (Jane) Huffenberger of Safford, Arizona; his daughter Susan (George) Garcia of Miami, Florida; and granddaughters, Shelena Huffenberger (David) Shamo and Lesley Huffenberger. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, and his brother Edward. A private family graveside service was held on Monday, May 9, 2011. Interment was in the Safford City Cemetery.
