Robert B. Humphreys 1925 ~ 2009 Robert B. Humphreys passed away September17, 2009 of natural causes. Born January 31, 1925 in Garfield, Utah to William O. Humphreys and Mary Shapland Humphreys. Married Wanda Grant on September 12, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Attended schools in Garfield and Cyprus High School. Served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Stationed in England with the 8th Air Force. Flew as a tail gunner in a B-17 and was the only survivor of his downed airplane after a midair collision with another bomber. He was held as a Prisoner of War in Germany for six months until the end of the war. Retired from Kennecott after 35 years and had many good friends there. He enjoyed sports when he was young, especially baseball. Active in the LDS Church. Survived by his wife, Wanda; sons: Robert, Kenneth, Franklyn (Julie); sister, Mildred Defa; grandchildren: Bobby, Peter, Kris, Ronnie, Hillary, Briana, Sydney, Rick, and Brandon; great-grandchildren: Savannah, Sage, Klayre and soon to be born, Wyatt; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Jonathan; grandchildren: Trent and Graham; parents; several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where a viewing will be held Monday, 6 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday, 12 - 12:45 p.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
