Robert George Layton quietly passed into eternity on February 15, 2021, at his home with his loving wife Joanna at his side. He was born on April 9, 1946, in Safford, Arizona to Rex Arlington Layton & Erdine Hunt Layton joining siblings Linda, Sally, Kathy, and Deanna.
Robert attended schools in Thatcher graduating from Thatcher High School in 1964. On June 26, 1969, Robert married Joanna Morris and they made their home in Thatcher where they raised their children; Ryan Todd, Adam Troy, Andrea, and Holly.
He was the Chief Probation Officer working for the Department of Corrections. He was a member of the Governor's Commission for Juvenile Justice and enjoyed doing woodworking, electronics, making rockets, exploring history, trains, and most importantly, family. Robert was sharp witted and was very intelligent. He was a hard worker, a good provider and a loving father and spouse. He was full of love, very loyal, and gave much service to others.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Rex & Erdine Layton, and Gail Rex Layton.
He is survived by his loving wife Joanna Morris Layton, and his children Ryan (Dionna) Layton, Adam (Kristy) Layton, Andrea (Preston) Price, and Holly (Travis) Thompson. He is also survived by his siblings Kathryn Mullenaux, Linda Norton, Sally Skinner, Deanna (Wayne) Damron, 9 grandchildren, and his pets Maggie, Molly, Sophie, Scooter, Hennesy, Heidi, Toby, and Tucker.
The family suggests that donations be made to children & adults in the Graham County Judicial System.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Thatcher Church Street Chapel, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery.
