Robert Olivar, 51 of Bylas passed away in the early morning on October 2, 2013. Robert Gene Olivar Sr. was born May 12, 1962 to Audrey Kenton and Gene Olivar in San Carlos, Arizona. In November of 1998, Robert was elected to represent his community of Bylas and the San Carlos Apache Tribe for 8 years which was a great honor for him. After serving his time in office he got a job with San Carlos Housing where he was for 5 years. He served on many committees such as First Things First Board (5 years), Farm Board (6 years), Apache Gold Casino Corporate Board (4 years), and Fort Thomas School Board (12 years). Robert is survived by his wife Leilani Cheney-Olivar; children, Barry Olivar, Robert Olivar Jr., Theron Olivar, Megan Olivar, Ty Olivar, Kylie Olivar, Kaya Olivar, Natauna Dona, and Charles Dona and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dad Gene Olivar of Gallup, New Mexico; brothers Edsel Olivar, Mario Gishey, and, Leslie Olivar; Cheryl Gishey, Melissa Olivar, and Kathy Olivar-Serna. He always considered Terry Rodriquez and Gerald Rambler as brothers and Winford Cromwell and Delrtia Dawahoya as sisters. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephew, Gods children thru church and also traditional sunrise ceremonies. A viewing will be conducted on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Council Hall in San Carlos. A Wake will follow at the Olivar Residence beginning at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Stanley Memorial Hall in Bylas. Interment to follow at Bylas Central Heights Cemetery.
