Robert Ross Rantz 1947 2009 Our dear, sweet husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend returned to his heavenly home, after a years-long, valiant battle with chronic heart disease on May 30, 2009. Bob was born in Greenville, Ohio on May 13, 1947, to Clarence Eugene and Neva Marie Folkerth Rantz. After graduating from high school in 1965, Bob served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1971. He married his sweetheart of nearly 39 years, Mary Lorene Anderson, on August 2, 1970. Bob and Mary made their first home together in Fremont, California, where they spent 10 wonderful years. They relocated with their family to Salt Lake City in 1980. Bob graduated with a BS degree in business administration from Utah State University in 1995. He has spent the past 24 years working in the Computing Services department at Salt Lake Community College, where he has enjoyed the friendship of many and the satisfaction of a job well done. With an avid love for golf, old movies and reading, Bob enjoyed many different things. More important than anything else was his love for family. He spent a great deal of time writing letters, sending e-mails and making sure every family member got a card and a phone call for their birthday. His efforts in this regard will be greatly missed. Bob is survived by the love of his life, Mary; children: Ken (Jackie) Larson, Dennis Larson, Wendy (Ron) Weixler and Tim (Rebecca) Rantz; grandchildren: Devan, Garrett, Amelia, Gregory, Tina, Cassandra, Noah, Adam, Michaela, and Hannah, who were the apples of his eye; brothers: Tom (Loreta) Studebaker and Joe Studebaker; sister, Toni (Brad) Henninger; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
