Robert L. Wood Bob Robert Lamar Wood, 91, died peacefully after complications related to surgery January 31, 2010. He was born April 10, 1918 in Brownville, Missouri to George and Sarah Wood. Married Juanita Grace Rook April 18, 1946. He joined the US Army June, 1941 and served during WWII, Korea, Germany and various stations in Utah including Dougway Proving Grounds, Tooele Army Depot and Ft. Douglas. He retired as a Major April 1, 1964 after 23 years of honorable service. Bob and Juanita moved to Salt Lake City in 1959 and lived in the same house for 51 years. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church since 1968. Bob was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He donated to many charities. Loved fishing and hunting and had strong opinions about President Obama and current politics. He was an avid woodworker and could build anything out of any kind of wood. Survived by his daughter, Patricia Trish; adopted son, Lenny (Terry) Back; sister, Chloe Cook; and his dog, Lady. Preceded in death by his wife, Juanita and daughter, JoAnn. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010, 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church of West Valley, 3800 South 2700 West where a viewing will be held 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Graveside services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, UT. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
