Roland Wille

July 3, 1920 — August 29, 2009

Roland Nephi Wille Together Forever On August 29, 2009, our beloved father, Roland Nephi Wille, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in West Valley City, UT. Even on his deathbed, Dad never uttered a word of complaint, and his last words were of humble gratitude for those serving him. He taught his children by example and by precept. We loved him dearly. Dad was born of goodly parents, Frank G. Wille and Mary Kapsa in Milwaukee, WI on July 3, 1920, and was later raised in Chicago, IL. He served a full-time LDS mission to California, and afterwards served his country in the European theater during WWII. He participated in the liberation of Russian and Polish POWs in Germany, as well as the freeing of thousands of Polish and Hungarian Jews from a concentration camp in Austria. While in basic training, Dad met his sweetheart and eternal companion, Mildred June Bennett, who was also serving her country as a WAC. They married July 3, 1944 and raised five children in the Chicago area. After Mildred joined the LDS Church, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1952. After the war, Dad received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and took a job with Borg Mechanical Contractors, where he was later appointed vice president. After 35 years of exemplary service, he retired from the company. Dad was a devoted member of the LDS Church and dedicated his life to serving the Lord as well as his family. His numerous callings included bishop, high councilor, stake patriarch and temple sealing supervisor. He also loved teaching Gospel Doctrine. He is survived by his five children: Mary Ellen (Reynold) Stout, Gregory Roland (Shellie) Wille, Patricia Anne (EksAyn) Anderson, John Milton (Lois) Wille, and Alice Kay Cuno; 28 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert and Milton. Preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; parents; sister, Eleanor Leatham and brother, Frank Wille. A viewing will be held on September 4, 2009 from 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, at 11 am at the Taylorsville 25th Ward Chapel, 4505 S. 3420 W., West Valley City, Utah, with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
