Ross Burt Reynolds, 74, a lifelong resident of the Gila Valley, passed away Saturday, April 3rd in Safford, Arizona. Ross was born in Pima, in 1935 to George & Billie Reynolds. He had two brothers, Lavoy (Agnes) & Bruce, and sisters Beth, and Mina (Ken) Lee. Ross attended Pima schools where he participated in band and was a member of the State champion football team, graduating from Pima High in 1953. In 1955 Ross married his high school sweetheart, Becky Naylor. They had three wonderful children before they divorced in 1970. The first of many businesses that he owned and operated was the Pima Richfield Service Station, followed by the Texaco Station, Curtis & Reynolds Motors, R & R Auto Sales and Gila Auto Center/Gila Auto & RV. In 1972 he fell in love with and married Jean Essig. Jean has been his love, companion and best friend for the last 37 years. Ross has always enjoyed the outdoors and has had many camping, hunting, fishing trips, and travels. He said anytime he was out in the hills or mountains, he felt closer to God. Rosss greatest joy and satisfaction have been his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ross is survived by his wife Jean Reynolds of Safford, daughter Sonja Micetich of Gilbert, son Stephen (Donna) Reynolds of Safford, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Ross is preceded in death by his daughter Susan Reynolds, his brothers and sister, Beth. Visitation is Tuesday, April 6th from 6 until 8 p.m. at McDougals Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are being conducted Wednesday, April 7th at 1 p.m. at Safford LDS Stake Center with Interment to follow in the Safford Cemetery.
