Roy Bagwell, of Safford, passed away at home at the age of 72 on July 15, 2018. Roy was born in Clarendon, TX on October 25, 1945 to Wayne Bagwell and Nellie Martin Bagwell. Roy had two brothers Bob and Mike and two sisters Wanda and Eva.
In 1962 Roy enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably for over 21 years, steadily rising through the ranks until attaining the rank of Chief Mater Sergeant E-9, which is the highest enlisted rank in the United States Air Force. During his military career Roy served in Vietnam and was highly decorated. Most notably, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross which is awarded to members of the armed forces who distinguish themselves in support of military operations by heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight. Roy also earned numerous other prestigious awards including the Expert Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal and Air Medal just to name a few.
On November 24, 1994 Roy married Roxane Hickman in Elfrida, AZ. They have 2 dogs Missy and Dusty.
Roy is survived by his wife Roxane, his children Donnie, Brian, Jeramiah, Heath, Lee and Scott Bagwell, his brother Mike Bagwell, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents Waylon and Nellie Bagwell, his brother Bob Bagwell, 2 sisters Wanda and Eva and his grandson Donnie Heath III.
