Ruben Gasca Perez, 64, of Pima, entered into rest on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 23, 1947, in Guanajuato, Mexico, in the small town of Gervacio Mendoza, to Modesto and Mercedes Perez Gasca. He was the second child of eight children. At age 19, he migrated to the United States and settled in the Gila Valley. In 1971 he married Graciela Valles and had four children. Ruben was a hard working man, and always managed to provide for his family. He worked in agriculture and worked for many of the local farmers in the Gila valley over the years. He was known for his own garden and was generous in sharing his harvest with his family and friends. He loved to listen and sing to Mexican music. He also enjoyed making friends, he loved to laugh, tell jokes and stories. He is survived by his parents, Modesto and Mercedes Gasca of Mexico; children, Elizabeth (Arturo) Luna of Pima, Nicolas (Diana) Gasca of Phoenix, Fernando (Reanna) Gasca of Thatcher, and Miguel Gasca of Pima; sisters, Consuelo, Sarah, and Luz; brothers, Efren, Jose Luis, Modesto, and Roberto; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, September 11, from 6-8 pm at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 10 am on Monday, September 12, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, September 12, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Pima Cemetery.
