Ruby Mae Green
Ruby Mae Green, 95, of Thatcher, AZ passed away on Easter morning, April 16, 2017. Ruby was born February 3, 1922 to Harvey and Della Phillips and was the oldest of 12 children.
Ruby lived in Oklahoma until 1936 when they were driven from there by the Dust Bowl. Her family eventually made their way to the Gila Valley where Ruby spent most of the rest of her life. She married Carl Green in the Mesa, AZ temple in 1941 and they raised their family in Thatcher, AZ. Together they served missions to Des Moines, Iowa and Johannesburg, South Africa for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The joys of her life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to do arts and crafts and made many doilies, quilts and treasure boxes for her posterity. She also loved to write and tell stories about her life. She always had a smile to share along with a Milky Way bar or Werther's candy.
She is survived by 7 of her 9 children, 43 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and 3 siblings.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel. There will also be a viewing at the Thatcher LDS Stake Center, 4050 2nd Street, Thatcher, AZ 85552, from 9:00 - 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 22 followed by a funeral at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Thatcher Cemetery.
