It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Rudy "Wedo" Contreras Jr, of Pima, AZ on August 29, 2023, at the age of 56. Rudy was a life-long resident of the Gila Valley who was born on April 6, 1967, in Safford, AZ to Rudy Martin Contreras & Rosa Arvayo Contreras with siblings Bonnie, Jimmy, Michael & Jay Contreras.
Rudy attended Pima High School and soon after began his career as a carpenter in the construction industry. He was later blessed with the birth of his daughter; Alicia Spencer. Rudy loved being outdoors, gambling, playing cards, making shaved ice, and being with family. He was loyal, dependable, and strong willed. Some of his favorite quotes were ""Con el favor de dios", and "Whis got 6? We got 6!" He was one of a kind! He fiercely loved his family and loved going to the casino. He enjoyed talking baseball with is grandsons, was a good listener and would give some good advise. Rudy fought hard until the end and will be dearly missed.
Rudy will be lovingly remembered by his mother Rosa Contreras, his daughter Alicia Spencer (Adam Peru),
his siblings Bonnie (Junior) Medina, Jimmy (Desiree) Contreras, Michael (Dawn) Contreras, and Jay (Cassie) Contreras. He will also be missed by his 4 grandchildren and many family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Rudy M. Contreras, his grandparents; Maria & Jose Contreras, Elvira Figueroa, and Nacho Arvayo, his Aunts; Josie, Olveda (Vedo), his Uncles; Junie, Camilo, Tony, Danny, and Chuy, and many more loved ones.
Services for Rudy will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church beginning with the Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel & Gila Valley Crematory.
