Rumaldo Romero, 76, of Duncan, passed into eternity in the early morning hour of January 24, 2018. He was born February 25, 1941 in Lobatos, Colorado to Juan and Eulalia Romero.
At age 5 his family moved to Morenci, Arizona. After graduating from high school he moved to Denver for a short time and later moved to Tucson where he worked at Martin Marietta. On September 9, 1961 he married the love of his life, Stella Luna. They made their life together in Morenci, raising four children before moving to York in 1976. They were married for 56 years.
Rumaldo worked as a Repairman, Operator and Truck Driver for the former Phelps Dodge Corporation. He was also a Master Barber. He spent some time in Phoenix working at Kenyon Construction as a residential housing superintendent. He returned to Morenci and retired from Phelps Dodge in 2001. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending hours outside gardening and landscaping his place in York. He was active in his church as a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Association and the church Fundraisers and Community Helpers at Sacred Heart parish in Clifton.
He is survived by his wife Stella, his children Roumaldo Romero (Joanne) of Phoenix, Bernice Van Parys (Jeff) of Litchfield Park, Shirley Rodriguez (Arthur) of York and Arturo Romero (Diana) of Phoenix; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Elcira Gray, Juan Romero, Bonefacio Romero, Albert Romero and Rosie Carrillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Eulalia Romero and his sister, Carol Vasquez.
Rosary and funeral mass will be on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clifton, Arizona. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
