Ruth Abernethy

Ruth Abernethy 1908 ~ 2008 On February 5, 2008 our mother and grandmother, Elsie Ruth Nix Abernethy, returned to her Heavenly Father due to incidents resulting from her age of 99 years. Ruth was born in Greenville, Texas March 29, 1908 to Miles Jennings and Sarah Elizabeth Freeman Nix, the youngest child of a very large family. She married Herbert Leslie Abernethy December 18, 1928 in Wheeler Texas. She became the loving mother of two motherless sons, Doyle and Fred. Ruth was a member of the West Valley Baptist Church for over 35 years. She raised many of her grandchildren, always being there for them. She is survived by son, Fred (Dee); Dennis (Lynnette); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband; son, Doyle; adopted son, Steven; grandsons: Freddie, Randall and Mark. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 8, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road. A viewing will be held Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road
