Biography Sadie Louise Hoke, of Safford, quietly passed from this life of 74 years into the hands of Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, February 16, 2016, at her home. Sadie was born on January 19, 1942 in Wilmington, Illinois to George and Ethel Cohoon and was living in Wilmington when she met Roy Hoke, a rodeo circuit rider, in September of 1959. They were married on November 20, 1959 and brought three daughters, Ethel, Wanona and Rhonda into this world. Sadie and her family visited Safford in 1980 and upon finding the Gila Valley climate very agreeable, decided to make Safford their home. Roy and Sadie were married for 56 years and after raising their three daughters, became semi-truck driving partners, traveling all over the United States and finding contentment in spending time with one another. Sadie enjoyed camping with Roy, playing Bingo, dancing (even while raking the yard), cooking Holiday meals, a good book, listening to old country music and the company of her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sadie is survived by her husband, Roy, daughters; Ethel Megason of Taylor, AZ, Wanona (Ruben) Sanchez of Safford, Rhonda (Mark) Atchley of Show Low, AZ, 12 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Cohoon, 11 brothers and sisters, and great-grandson, Brendan Sanchez.
