Sharon Buckner, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on April 22, 2024, in Denton, Texas. She was born on December 29, 1939, in Marion, Kentucky. Sharon's journey led her from the hills Kentucky to the warmth of Tucson when she was very young. It was in Tucson that she met the love of her life, Bob Buckner, whom she married in December of 1956.
Sharon found joy in the simplest of things and dedicated her life to serving others. She worked at the Duncan school cafeteria to be close to children whom she adored. Her gentle and patient nature made her a favorite among the students. Sharon's love for animals was evident to all who knew her; she had a special way with furry friends that brought comfort and joy wherever she went.
A devout member of the First Baptist Church of Duncan, Sharon found solace in faith and dedicated herself to the widow ministries within the church community. Her unwavering devotion to helping those in need reflected her kind heart and selfless spirit. Sharon's legacy of compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Sharon is survived by her loving children: Vince Buckner of Phoenix, AZ, and Phyllis (Richard) McQuigg of Texas. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Chad Buckner, Jeffery McQuigg, Heath McQuigg, Cameron Bradford, and Angel Douglas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is reunited in heaven with her parents Eston Yates and Edith Rowland Yates, Sharon's husband Bob Buckner also preceded her in death but their love story continues beyond this lifetime. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Edith Buckner, and her grandson's Everett Buckner, Jared Bradford, Cory Bradford, and by her dear sister-in-law and partner in crime, Wanda Richardson.
A viewing followed by a funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9th, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Duncan located at 220 Main Street, Duncan AZ 85534. The viewing will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM.
