Shirley Haycock Bourgeous, our sweet mother and grandmother, completed her earthly mission and returned back home to her Heavenly Father on May 5, 2012. Shirley was born on August 14, 1932 in Burley, Idaho to George H. Haycock and Lottie Theresa Grover Haycock. Shirley married her sweetheart, Edsil LaGrand Bourgeous, on May 18, 1949 for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. They moved to Franklin, Arizona where they lived the remainder of their life. They were married for 54 years at the time of his death. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was faithful all her life. Our mother loved music and would sing to us the lullabies of her youth in her beautiful soprano voice. She continued to sing up to the week before her passing. She loved the hymns of Zion and particularly loved the primary songs. She served for many years as the primary chorister and taught hundreds of children to love the Savior through song. Shirley devoted herself to mothering her children and grandchildren. She found her greatest joy in her posterity. How she loved them all. Shirley loved the Savior. She loved the scriptures and immersed herself in them as she developed her relationship with Christ. She found great joy in the temple and desired to go often. Shirley is survived by her children, Samuel L. Bourgeous, Maureen Aden, David B. Bourgeous, and Daniel T. Bourgeous. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Margaret A. Koyle, and brother, Harry A. Haycock. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 7 of her siblings. We wish to express our gratitude to her daughter, Maurine, and her son, Samuel, for their tender and selfless care of our mother during the final months of her life. Funeral Services for Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Duncan LDS stake center.
