Shirley Broadbent

Shirley Joy Wanberg Broadbent 1927 ~ 2010 Shirley Joy Broadbent, born March 30, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Daughter of David R. Wanberg and Marie Elizabeth Jansen. Graduated from Granite High School in 1944. Married her sweetheart Gerald Nelson Broadbent in the Salt Lake Temple on February 6, 1947, married by the Apostle Mark E. Peterson. They moved to California in 1952. She enjoyed her theater, singing, art work and her family. She had numerous callings in the church. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She served a Stake Mission for the LDS church. She was the best friend and companion one could have. She moved back to Utah in 1990 where she has spent the rest of her life. We will miss her profoundly. Preceded in death by her father and mother. Survived by her husband, Gerald N. Broadbent; her 5 children, Rodney Broadbent, Glynda Walker (Jimmy), Shane Broadbent (Cherie), David Broadbent (Tammy), Troy Broadbent (Susie); 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Special thanks for the dedication and exemplary medical care and staff. Thanks to everyone who helped our family through this difficult time. We will all celebrate her birthday in her new life. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the Taylorsville 13th Ward, 1495 West Tamarack Road with a viewing Tuesday 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Wednesday 10:30-11:30 prior to services at the church. Interment: Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
