Shirley A. Farnsworth, 65, of Pima, entered into rest on February 6, 2013. She was born on October 10, 1947 in Safford, Arizona to Douglas and Helen Farnsworth. Shirley was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She grew up in the Gila Valley and attended Eastern Arizona College after finishing high school. Upon graduating from EAC she transferred to Arizona State University where she earned her Bachelors degree in teaching. Shirley was a teacher all of her professional life. She began her teaching career by teaching for one year in Solomon. After that first year she transferred to Thatcher Grade School where she taught until she retired many years later. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gama Society International; a professional, by invitation only, honorary society of women educators. Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Douglas L. Farnsworth. She is survived by her mother, Helen Farnsworth, of Safford; brother, Melvin (Billie) Farnsworth of Thatcher; sisters, Marjorie (Peter) Mueller of Orem, Utah, and Debi (Dennis) Crapse of Gilbert, Arizona; brother, Kenneth (Robin) Farnsworth of Davie, Florida and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a viewing on Tuesday, February 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Services for Shirley will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pima Stake Center on Wednesday, February 13, beginning with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Ron Dalene will officiate. Final interment will be in the Pima cemetery.
