Shirley Mahu

Shirley Mahu Miss Hollywood Shirley Pearl Nelson Barney Mahu, age 82, passed away April 2, 2009. She was born June 23, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah daughter of Archie Nelson and Pearl Elizabeth Dangerfield Nelson. Married Bob R. Barney in 1946; later divorced. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings. She was a bright personality that was a friend to everyone. She enjoyed dancing and singing, an avid scrapbooker, enjoyed her photographs and shared them with everyone. Shirley is survived by her son, Craig (Judy) Barney, Okinawa, Japan; 3 grandchildren: Andria Rogers, Chesapeake, VA; Kristin (Jason) Stern, Ogden, UT; John (Kippy) Barney, Boise, ID; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Gaylen (DeAnna) Nelson, St. George, UT; sister, Sharon (Earl) Rasmussen, Salt Lake City; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; 2 nephews. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to Shirleys dear friend, Joanne Sorenson and to the loving staff and residents of Arlington Hills Care Center and the staff of Legacy Hospice. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009, 12:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
