Shirley Whitaker

Shirley M. Whitaker 1929 ~ 2008 Shirley Monger Whitaker, 79, passed away peacefully October 5, 2008 of natural causes at her home. She was born April 23, 1929 in Garfield, Utah, daughter of Robert V. and Edna Rushton Monger. Married Albert "Bert" Whitaker October 26, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mom and Dad loved their place at Scofield West and stayed there every summer for many years. She enjoyed traveling, hiking and trail bike riding in the hills with her best friend, Gerri Snow. Survived by daughters, Connie Barnes and Paula (Rick) Milano, both of Helper, UT; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (and one on the way). Preceded in death by daughter, Janice Miller in 1997; husband, Bert Whitaker in 1998; and grandson, Stephen Mark Funk in 2006. Graveside services will be held Wed., October 8, 2008, 11 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 S. A viewing will be held Wed., 9-11 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
