Biography Silas Romero, Jr.,70, of Safford, entered into rest on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Sunset Hills Care Center in Safford. He was born on November 3, 1942, in Ortiz, Co, to Silas and Cora Romero. Silas was a gentle and caring man. During his young married life while living in Morenci he was blessed with the births of his three daughters. A short while later he moved to Phoenix by himself. He lived in Phoenix with his mother, Cora Romero, until she passed away in 1997. He loved new cars, watching football and westerns, eating pizza, tacos, and enchiladas; but more than these he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He worked at the state building of the Arizona Department of Corrections as a janitor. He took great pride in his job. When he retired in 2005 he was awarded a certificate, signed by the governor, in recognition of more than 27 years of dedicated service to the State of Arizona. In his retirement he became ill and decided to move to Safford to be with his Daughters. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Fred Romero and many uncles. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Francisco Arreola) Romero, Catharine (Robert) Alcarez, and Amanda Romero; and his cousin, Albert (Cindy) Romero, many cousins; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with two on the way. Services for Silas will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Clifton beginning with a visitation at 8:30 a.m. The Rosary prayer will be offered at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Final interment will follow at Sacred Heart cemetery.
