Sterling Pike

In Loving Memory "STERLING PIKE" (AKA) "POLEE Sterling Pike, 61, of Bylas, passed away August 23, 2018 on the Ranch that he loved in Point of Pines. He was born January 10, 1957 in San Carlos, Arizona to Bruce Pike & Doris Hinton Pike. Today we Honor, respect and remember a good - good man who touched and enriched all of our lives in so many different ways. Sterling Pike "Polee" was born on January 10, 1957 to Bruce Pike Sr and Doris Hinton Pike. He was a little cowboy at a young age. His mother always dressed him in western wrangler clothing and boots. He started riding at a young age. His first ride was on a white donkey named Suzie and from there on he gained interest in the Rodeo life style. It became his hobby and he started competing in various Rodeos for bull riding, bareback, calf roping, steer wrestling and team roping throughout Arizona. At an early age he worked with his father at the ranch in Point of pines and followed his dad footsteps. While working and living there he attended Bylas mission from Kindergarten through 8th grade. He also attended East Fork Lutheran School then came back to Fort Thomas High School. In April 1974 he met the love of his life Lenora Cheney Pike "Rose". They got married on April 2, 1976 and made their home in Bylas. In 1977 they had their first daughter Sterlene K. Pike. He spoiled and had lots of love for his beautiful daughter Sterlene, she was a daddy's girl. They had their second child in 1979 and name him John Lee Pike whom he also loved so much. In 2000 Sterling went through a great loss with his family. He lost his daughter Sterlene and son in law Harley Duane. Through the years of grieving his family was blessed with another daughter Starla Jo Pike in 2006. Sterling would always say that Starla resembled their firstborn daughter. He was a devoted father to his kids, made sure his family was always taken care of. Sterling was a manager for the IDT R-100 ranch, he was a dedicated worker, never complain, and gave all his time into the ranch. He also worked as an Assistant Stockman for 8 years for the Ash Creek Association. He served as a board member for 19 years with the Point of Pines Association. As we could say "He was one of the legend cowboys that lived his whole life living the cowboy life, from branding cattle, castration, horseshoeing, you name it Polee could do it." He taught many young boys how to live in the cowboy way of life. Sterling was a believer and always put God first. He reminded his family to always pray and he would attended local churches wherever he was invited. He had numerous friends, and everyone knew him as a kind hearted person with a positive personality. Sterling is survived by his wife Lenora Cheney Pike, Son John Lee Pike, daughter Starla Jo Pike, a grandson JoJo, two God daughters through traditional ceremony Chasity Wilson and Latisha Moses, Brothers Chuck Pike of Peridot, Bruce Jr and Pascal Pike both of Bylas, Sisters Fonda Cosay of Cedar Creek, Phyllis Parra of Phoenix, Cecilia Dillon and Connie Wilson of Bylas. He was proceeded in death by his daughter Sterlene Pike Duane and son in law Harley Duane, his parents Bruce Sr. and Doris Pike. Sterling will deeply be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him, so ride on my Cowboy and Rest in Peace. A Wake will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 beginning at 4:00 p.m at the Pike residence with the funeral services at the Ernest Stanley Memorial Hall on Friday, August 31st at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Black Point Cemetery following the funeral service.
