Susan Castro

Susan Ann Castro, 48, of Pima, passed away July 17, 2011 at Mt. Graham Regional Medical Canter surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 24, 1963 in Safford, AZ, to Ignacio & Clara Castro. Susan lived in the Safford area most of her life. She attended Safford Elementary, Safford Jr. High, and graduated from Safford High School. After high school she received a 2 year scholarship to Eastern Arizona College to play softball. In 1982 she had her first born, Valerie. Shortly after, in 1985, she moved to Tucson, AZ and began working at Tucson Medical Center where she was employed for 3 years. Later in her life she met Dick Hoyle and welcomed his 3 daughters and 1 son into her life and loved them like her own. In 1992 she had her second child, Clara Sue. Susan raised Valerie and Clara Sue in Pima. Susan began to manage Mi Casa where she would work for 10 years. Her last employment was with Phelps Dodge where she worked for 3 years driving haul trucks and shortly after, she became ill. Susan is survived by Dick Hoyle, 6 children and 12 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Ignacio Castro, and brother, Mike Castro. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday July 23, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford, with Rev. Father Edward Lucero as celebrant. Friends may call on Friday, July 22nd, from 6 8 p.m. with Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment will be in Safford Cemetery.
