Thelma Mackay Thomas 1931 - 2008 My cherished wife, sweetheart, friend and life-long companion, and our most precious, loving, caring and giving mother, Thelma Mackay Thomas, 77, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2008 surrounded at her hospital bedside by her devoted family. Born May 24, 1931 in Taylorsville, Utah, daughter of Vernal and Vera Elizabeth Bawden Mackay. Married her sweetheart James Eldon Thomas, August 29, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a graduate of Granite High School. She touched the lives of many as the owner/operator of Granger and J&T Frostops for 35 years. Life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she lived a life of service for others. She found great joy in her many callings in the church. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She loved to spend time with them on holidays, at the cabin, on Sunday evenings and family vacations. She loved music, reading, cooking and baking for others. Survived by husband, James E. Thomas; children: Linda T. (Steve) Rickards, Colleen T. Howard, Kay T. (Doug) Mecham, James R. (Julie) Thomas, Doug (Jeannie) Thomas, Brian (Jana) Thomas, and Craig D. Thomas; 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Mecham, brothers, Thurman and Alvin Mackay. Preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Roscoe, Ralph, Nola, Ann and Kenneth. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 8, 2008, 12:00 noon at the West Valley 1st Ward Chapel, 3963 South Peachwood Drive (3480 West). A viewing will be held Sunday, December 7, 2008, from 5:00-7:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Monday at Church prior to service 10:30-11:40 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
