Thomas Eugene Sollars, Sr., passed into eternity in Chandler, AZ on December 11, 2019 with his loving wife Sheri at his side. He was born on March 11, 1933 in Pancoastburg, Ohio to Homer Scott Sollars & Isabel "Mary" McAfee Sollars with siblings; Fred, Robert, Rick & Duke.
Thomas joined the U.S. Air Force on January 24, 1952 and served until being honorably discharged on January 23, 1956, after which, he served in the Reserves for 1 year. After his service to our country, and the passing of his first wife, he moved his family back to Ohio and then to Delaware where he married Dottie. He was a restless spirit and moved his family many times and ended up in the Gila Valley where he decided to put down some roots and raise his youngest daughter Holly. He owned and operated his own construction company for many years repairing and building homes all over the Gila Valley. After his marriage to his wife Sheri, he began driving big rigs and ended up making that his final career.
From his marriage to Betty, he was blessed with 3 children; Deborah, Thomas & John and from his marriage to Dorothy he was blessed with Holly. In October of 1989, Thomas married Sheri Robinson in a Las Vegas ceremony and they've spent the last 30 years together.
Thomas enjoyed his family and spent as much time with them as he could, that is when he wasn't playing golf! He played in many tournaments all around the state of Arizona. He earned a Double Eagle Certificate from his remarkable 3 under par on the 5th hole of the Mt. Graham Golf Course, of which he was very proud. Truth be told, he loved God, family and golf, in that order. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed his service there as well.
He is survived by his loving wife Sheri, his children; Thomas (Bette) Sollars of Mesa, AZ, Deborah (Mike) Lander of Grove City, Ohio and Holly Greenhalgh of Tucson, AZ, his brother Rick (Sandy) Sollars of Manchester, GA, 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Mary & Homer Sollars, his brothers Duke, Robert & Fred Sollars and his son John Sollars.
Services for Thomas will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Old Pima Chapel beginning with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Than Ashby conducting. Interment will be in the Pima Cemetery with Military Honors by the Gila Valley Honor Guard.
