Thomas Summers

Thomas W. Summers, 62 of Safford passed away early, Sunday July 14, 2013 at his home, following a diagnosis of advanced throat cancer. Tom was born in Brownwood, TX on July 21, 1951. He was the third son born to John Summers and Dorothy Barnes Summers. Toms family moved to Arizona in the late 50s and he completed his education graduating from Safford High School in 1969. Tom is survived by his five sons; Michael Pennington of Mesa, Skip David of Kingman, Tommy and Timmy Summers of Safford, and Ty Summers of Queen Creek. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and his oldest brother, John Summers of Safford. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jimmy. There will be a memorial service for Tom on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Swift Murphy American Legion Post 32 in Safford. A potluck luncheon will follow at the Post. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the American Legion to help defray funeral expenses.
