Tyrone "Ducky" Wilson, born on March 27, 2002, in Safford, Arizona, was the beloved son of Latoya and Toey Wilson. He grew up in a tight-knit family and was raised alongside his siblings, Jathan, Jayla, Meya, and Chase. Ducky attended Bylas Head Start and Fort Elementary, ultimately graduating as a member of the Fort Thomas High School Class of 2020.
His journey was filled with hard work, passion, and a love for his community. After high school, Ducky began his career with the University of Arizona Telescope Project at Mt. Graham, which laid the foundation for his future. He later worked as a Hydro mat crane operator at Freeport McMoRan, showcasing his strong work ethic and technical skill. He also worked for 5D Construction before moving back to Glendale in November, where he resumed work with E&E.
Throughout his career, Ducky always gave his best, and his dedication to his work was evident to everyone who knew him. Family was central to Ducky’s life. He was especially close with his siblings, often playfully wrestling with Jathan until someone would burst out laughing or crying. His family fondly remembers him as funny, happy, and brave. He had a unique ability to make everyone around him smile and feel loved.
One of Ducky’s greatest joys was participating in his local rodeos in Bylas and Veterans, where he loved to showcase his skills and connect with his roots. The rodeo was more than just a hobby; it was a celebration of his connection to his culture and his community.
Sadly, Ducky’s life was tragically cut short at the age of 22, on December 16, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona. He passed away doing what he loved, surrounded by the spirit of the things that brought him joy. His family and friends are left with cherished memories of his laughter, love, and bravery.
Ducky leaves behind his loving parents, Toey Wilson and Latoya Cheney, as well as his siblings, Jathan, Jayla, Meya, and Chase Wilson. He is also survived by his grandparents, Palmer and Connie Wilson, Dorothy Cheney, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply. His legacy of love, laughter, and passion will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Services for Ducky will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, beginning with a wake at 4:00 p.m. at the Wilson residence. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23rd at 12 noon at the Ernest Stanley Memorial Hall with burial following in the Mormon Hill Cemetery.
