Veneice Green Coons, 91, of Glenbar, passed away January 30, 2015 at the Mt Graham Regional Medical Center. Veneice was born in Ashurst, west of Pima on May 27, 1923 to Jesse Green and Bertha Morris. She was the sixth of ten children. When she was very young, the family moved to Thatcher where they resided for many years. Veneice graduated from Thatcher High School in May of 1941. She worked at several jobs before meeting and marrying Joy Coons for Glenbar. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on May 1, 1942. They lived in Pima for many years until moving to a new home on the farm in Glenbar in the late 1970s. Their union was blessed with two sons, Alvin Joy and Jesse Robert, who both went on to receive Dental and Osteopathic Medical Degrees respectively at the encouragement of their parents. Veneice was an active and lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various capacities, but she always enjoyed singing in the Relief Society choir the most. She taught her children to always be of service to others. She loved her family very much and enjoyed family gatherings. Veneice is survived by her children Alvin Joy (Marsha) of Mesa and Jesse Robert (Alma) of Glenbar. She has one surviving sister Joann Kempton Haggard of Tempe. Viewings for Veneice will be held at McDougals Caldwell Chapel on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Pima main street Chapel from 9:00 to 9:45am. Funeral Services will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Pima Cemetery.
