Vennadel Pierce Gone Home Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Vennadel Summers Pierce, went home on April 27, 2010. Vennadel was born September 25, 1929, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to Dewey Leslie and Viola Violet Crihfield Summers. She married Leroy Howard Compton January 15, 1944, and the couple was blessed with two daughters: Ruby Lee and Barbara Jean. Leroy passed away while serving in the military. On December 16, 1955, Vennadel married Allwin Wiley Pierce. Their marriage was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union came one daughter: Debra Jo. Although raised in West Virginia, Vennadel spent most of her adult life in the Salt Lake valley. She had a strong testimony and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved animals, fishing, and quiet time alone. Most of all she loved her family and spent many years caring for loved ones who were chronically ill. Vennadel was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Allwin Wiley Pierce; both her parents; brother, Billy; sister, Rosemary; and her daughter Barbara. She is survived by her daughters: Ruby Larson, of Gusher, Utah, and Debra Marsh of Sandy, Utah; son-in-law, David Marsh; brother-in-law, Walter LeGrande Collins, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah; brother, Dewey Leslie (Aleta) Summers, Jr., of Alton, Illinois; sister, Doris Piserchia, of Tinton Falls, New Jersey; sister, Jane Carney, of Farmington, Utah; sister-in-law, LaVee Pierce, of West Valley City, Utah; and sister-in-law, Barbara Summers Pardaen, of Fairmont, West Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to McDougal Funeral Home. At Vennadels request, no funeral will be held. She will be laid to rest Friday, April 30, 2010, 11:30 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, UT. The family would like to thank the wonderful care givers at Intermountain Hospice and everyone who loved and prayed for Vennadel for helping make her last days so peaceful.
