Vern Scovil

Vern Lewis Scovil 1916 ~ 2009 Vern Lewis Scovil, age 93, passed away on July 26, 2009. Born January 20, 1916 in Monroe, Utah, to Jesse Richard and Effie Ann Lewis Scovil. Married Dorene Astle June 22, 1936, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death. Served in the Navy during World War II. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served in many Church callings, including: Bishopric and High Council. Cherished car rides with his wife; enjoyed fishing with friends and family and loved spending many hours in his garden. Survived by his children: Jack, Kenneth, Patsy Baker, Linda Riddle and Neil (Julie); 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ilean Douglas, Norma Robins; brother, Ivan Scovil. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorene and son, Jerry. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 30, at 12:30 p.m. at the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road. Family and Friends may call on Thursday from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
