VERNON JOSEPH WOLF 1932 ~ 2009 Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Vernon Joseph Wolf passed away August 21, 2009 at home in Taylorsville. Vernon Joseph Wolf was born June 23, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hyrum Joseph Wolf and Myrtle Edna Winter. He was born in a nice big home about 3400 West and 1300 South, which then was called Buena Vista town. Vernon was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when eight years old. He attended West High School, where he met, the love of his life, Helen Patricia (Pat) Krogh, whom he married in the Salt Lake Temple. Vern was drafted in 1952 and trained in the Military at Camp Roberts in California and then he was sent to Korea and became discharged in 1954. He is the oldest of nine surviving siblings Vern and Pats first home was on 5th South near to his parents and grandparents. His dad helped him build his first home. He later built his dream home in Taylorsville, Utah. He enjoyed this home with Pat and his five children. His children became married with homes of their own. Vern retired from Mountain Bell after 30 years of service in 1985. Verns wife Pat died of Cancer on May 5, 1991. He suffered grief and emptiness, but knew that life must go on. He married Irene Ball Pratt December 14, 1991 in the Jordan River Temple. He was a High Priest in the LDS church. Vern and Irene spent many fun times with their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling, the big Wolf family reunions and the reunions each year with their children. Vernon and Irene served six years in the Jordan River Temple as Ordinance Workers and Supervisors. Also served as missionaries in the Welfare Program training others for jobs. Vernon has served in many leadership positions in both the ward and on the Stake High Council. Vern is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Pat. Vern is survived by his wife Irene and five children. Arlene ( Joe) Asay, Brent(Terrie) Wolf, Debbie (Chuck) Sampson, Wendy (Gordon) Chatland, Jennifer ( Dallas) Brooks. Also 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and also five step children and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Vern is also survived by brothers and sisters: Bonnie, Lois , Dean , Lynne, Marvin, LeiOma, Arlen, Careen, and Glennys. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. in the Taylorsville 10th Ward located at 4950 South 1950 West, where a viewing will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. and again Tuesday, 1:00-1:45 p.m. Interment will follow in the Valley View Memorial Park at 4335 West 4100 South. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
