Biography Graveside services for Verva Louine Cockerham will be held at the Safford Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 19. She passed away on April 5, 2010, in Oxford, Ohio. Verva was born on November 26, 1919 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Josh and Lula Denison. The family moved to Milford, Texas where she grew up. In 1947, she married Edward Lee Cockerham and moved to Morenci, Arizona. The Cockerhams moved to Safford in 1977 when Lee retired from Phelps Dodge Corporation. While living in Morenci, Verva worked as a Stanley Home products representative and sold Sprayberry Handbags. Verva was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. She enjoyed music, quilting, crocheting, dominoes, washoes, and playing cards with her family. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Coon (James) of Camden, Ohio and Brenda Marietti (Steve) of Tucson; one son, William Cockerham (Carole) of Phoenix; one sister, Lou Russell of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Jack Denison of Dallas, Texas and Josh Denison of Mesquite, Texas; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Donations may be made in Vervas name to the Alzheimers Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 3797 Summit Glen Drive, Suite 100, Dayton, Ohio 45449.
