Virginia Christensen

September 26, 1942 — April 28, 2008

Virginia Christensen Ginny Virginia Vyrl Baker Christensen, beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, passed away April 24, 2008, after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. She was born September 26, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to LeRoy Edward and Vyrl Coolbear Baker, the second of four children. She was raised in Sugarhouse, Utah, and married Bruce N Christensen March 2, 1962, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities over the years, most recently as secretary of the Primary. She was an accomplished painter and enjoyed various forms of arts and crafts. She has done extensive genealogy work and had been working on extractions. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband and father. She is survived by her children: Boyce (Cheri), Darron (Lea), Vyrl (David) Nelson, Beverly (Fred) Overdiek; 14 grandchildren; mother; siblings: Ron (Donna) Baker, Kathleen (Dennis) Riddle and Larry (Sandy) Baker; numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage 4th Ward, 7350 South 3200 West. A viewing will be held Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Friday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
