Virginia Elegante

November 7, 1926 — May 4, 2009

Virginia Berensen Elegante 1926 2009 Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on May 4, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born to Lawrence and Zella Berensen on November 7, 1926, in Spring Canyon, UT. She met her sweetheart in High School. It was love at first sight. On September 25, 1944, she married Antone John Elegante, who only had eyes for her. Sweethearts to the end, he never left her side. They were sealed together as an eternal family in the Manti Temple on December 20, 1958. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. She made each of us feel that we were her favorite. She loved her flower gardens and everything the color purple. Her buttermilk pancakes will go down in history as the blue ribbon winner. Preceded in death by her parents, stepmother (Geneva Berensen), sister (Leotta Kofford), infant son (Paul J.) and son-in-law (J. Lowell Tye). Survived by husband, son Tony (Penny), son Tom (Julie), daughter Zella Hicks (Joe), son Joe (Joyce), daughter Ann Tye (Rod), 26 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Taylorsville 1st Ward Chapel, 1350 West 4800 South, Taylorsville, UT at 12:00 Noon. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11 11:45 AM as well as Wednesday, May 6, 2009, from 6 - 8 PM at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT. Interment will be held at the Taylorsville Cemetery. A special thanks to Life Path Hospice and all those who loved and cared for Virginia.
