Vyrle Woolston

March 15, 1919 — September 3, 2009

Vyrle Langston Woolston 1919-2009 Vyrle Langston Woolston passed peacefully Thursday, September 3rd at age ninety, or was it thirty- nine? She was the first child born to George and Rhea Langston and big sister to Frances and Raymond. She will always be a loyal graduate of South High and of the University of Utah where she majored in English and minored in Elementary Education. She met Joseph Woolston at a Saltair dance when only seventeen. He was smitten, but she refused to marry until she finished college. Five years later, on March 12, 1941, they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Our father preceded her in death twenty-two years ago. His second long wait is over. Always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as the community, she held many leadership positions. Some of her favorites included Junior Sunday School Coordinator, Relief Society Secretary, Salt Lake Temple Worker, member of the Babcock Readers Theater, Daughters of the Pioneers Museum Guide, P.T.A. President twice, and voter registrar. She is survived by her brother, Raymond ,her sister-in-law, Mae, her eight children: Steve (Cheryl), Dennis (Donette), Janet Kent (David), Maurine Josephs, Corinne Soelberg (Craig), Wayne (Carolyn), Elaine Blackhurst (Doug), and Laura. There are also eighty-two grand and great-grand children who love their "Grandma Great." If Ballroom and Square Dancing exist in Heaven, Mom and Dad are teaching everyone who wants to learn! A viewing will be held at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd., Monday September 7th, from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00am in the L.D.S. Mt. Olympus 5th Ward chapel, 3640 E. Millstream Lane (3510 S.) , preceded by a viewing from 9:45-10:45. Interment at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 E. 1300 S. Salt Lake City . The family would like to thank Maureen at Rocky Mtn. Hospice for her kind caring as well as all the brownie-making, karaoke-singing care givers at Sunrise Assisted Living.
