Wesley Peter Pete Thompson Pete passed away peacefully on May 13, 2010. He was born on March 31, 1927 in Salt Lake City to Wesley Peter and Eva Christensen Thompson and raised in Ephraim, Utah. Pete excelled in academics and sports and turned down a basketball scholarship after high school to serve in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Upon his return he attended Snow College where he served as Student Body President. At Snow he met the love of his life, Fern Rymer. They married in 1948 in the Manti Temple and had six children. Together they raised their family in Granger, Utah. Pete graduated from the University of Utah, College of Pharmacy. He owned Petes Pharmacy and enjoyed the people he served. Pete was actively involved in the community. Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and disciple of Christ. He served in several Bishoprics, as Bishop, in the Stake Presidency and as Stake President for many years. He was a diligent home teacher his whole life and was a kind and charitable person. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He cared for his dear wife Fern who passed away in 1992 of cancer after 44 wonderful years together. In 1994 he married Beverly B. Olsen and enjoyed 13 years of marriage until she passed away in 2007. Pete is survived by his six children; Merlynn (Ray) Newbold, Barbara, Janis (Douglas) Larsen, Andy (Pennie), Kathy, Ken (Sandra) and a brother Don (Lynda). He is also survived by Beverlys children; Annette (Darwin) Gillette and Alan Olsen. Pete is loved and adored by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Noon at the LDS Church at 3420 West Brians Way (4490 South). A viewing will be held at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. A viewing will also be held at the Church prior to the service from 10:30am to 11:30am. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
