Walter Cummings

August 31, 1921 — June 1, 2008

Walter A. Cummings Wally Walter Aaron Cummings, 86, our dear father and grandfather, returned to his Heavenly Father June 1, 2008. Born August 31, 1921 in Portland, Oregon to George and Eva Cummings. Served in the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII. Married his sweetheart, Laura Farnsworth, in 1946; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Worked for many years and retired from the Granite School District as a custodian. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many callings including ward finances, counselor in the bishopric, Bishop, Stake High Councilman, Primary teacher, ward missionary, stake employment specialist, temple worker and as a home teacher. He is blessed with a family who loves and respects him as well as many good friends and neighbors. He is survived by his children: Denna (Gary) Brown, Kearns, UT; Byron Cummings (Deborah), Eloy, AZ; 12 grandchildren and their spouses; 34 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Laura; son, Terry; parents; brother and sisters. We love him and miss him very much. Our many thanks to Diana and Bonnie at Sandy Regional Care Center, and to Debra, Nancy and those at Harmony Health Care who so lovingly helped care for him. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns 7th Ward, 4270 West 5700 South. Friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m . Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
