Wanda Cocking

August 15, 1927 — November 25, 2011

Wanda Geraldine (King) Cocking went to be with our Lord on Nov. 25, 2011 in Safford, AZ. Born Aug. 15, 1927 in Dawson, N. M., Wanda was the tenth of 13 children born to Fletcher Loyd King and Wanda Erna (Holland) King. After graduating from Dawson High School in 1945 Wanda moved to Morenci, AZ, where she met Eddie Cocking. Wanda and Eddie were married in 1946. Their first son Eddie Jr. was born later that year and in March 1948 their second son David Loyd was born. During her life Wanda was active in Eastern Star and the Girl Scouts of America. After raising her sons through their impressionistic years Wanda went to work for Phelps Dodge Corp. as a cashier in the Phelps Dodge Mercantile and later as a nurses aide in the Morenci Hospital. After her retirement Wanda returned to her passion of sharing life with friends and family. Dedication and loyalty to friends and family came without expectations. Wanda was the queen of the care package for all who knew her. Her skills as a master baker meant that package would be filled with donuts, banana nut bread, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Eddie Sr. and four brothers and eight sisters. She is survived by her son Eddie Cocking, Jr. (Nina) of Tucson and granddaughter Cassandra Cocking of Gilbert, AZ. Also surviving is her son David (Ruth) Cocking of Taylor, AZ; grandson Steve (Andie) and great-grandsons Chase and Kasey Cocking of Surprise, AZ; grandson Jeff (Jill) Cocking and great-granddaughter Ina Louisa Cocking of Flagstaff. A brief memorial service will be held at McDougals Caldwell Funeral Chapel Dec. 10, 2011 at 1:00 PM. The family asks in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
