Wheeler Grimes

August 10, 1931 — August 11, 2022

Wheeler was born to Lemuel and Belle Grimes and grew up in Navajo Point Bylas, Az. Wheeler attended school at Bylas mission school and completed eighth grade and then attended for Ft. Thomas high School he became a cowboy and worked for the late Willy Hinton then Ash Creek cattle association and also for IDT tribal cattle association. In 1952 he was drafted by the US army he completed his basic training in California and then on to advanced training at Fort Leonard Wood he was stationed in Korea in August of 1952 and was returned back home on June of 1953. He was sent home after 21 months of service active duty during the Korean War. In 1953 upon returning home he married Diana Wesley and a year later and together had six children and adopted three other children. Wheeler worked for different companies lived in Tucson and eager he later on worked for the Fort Thomas school for more than 15 years in a retired in 1996 and 1997. He enjoyed watching Fort Thomas high School basketball team, football team he enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, riding his horse teaching his grandkids how to ride, driving around in his truck and just being with family he was a faithful church member to the Bylas 1st Miracle Church and attended every church service he was active with the San Carlos Apache Veterans association. Wheeler is survived by his son Jonathan Grimes, Daughter's Lillian Rose Grimes, Bernadette Jamie Grimes and Melissa Goseyun, Goddaughter Elaine Pacheco with numerous grandchildren great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
