Thomas Willard Herbert, 80, of Ft. Thomas, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Josephs Medical Center in Phoenix. He was born on June 2, 1932 in Habersham, GA, to Robert Herbert, and Daisy May Roberts Herbert. He married Norma Lee Riggs on April 14, 1979, in Las Vegas, NV. Norma passed away on December 6, 2010. Thomas moved to Ft. Thomas at the age of three and spent the rest of his life there. He was a heavy equipment operator for several Electrical companies during life. He loved music, fishing, and was an avid sports fan, especially for the Diamondbacks, and Suns. He was planning to go to the opening game. He is survived by his son, Victor (Judy) Herbert of Ft. Thomas; daughter, Christine (Richard) Brown of Lilburn, GA; stepson, Gary (Cathy) Melton of Phoenix; stepdaughter, Kathy Sterrett of Phoenix; sisters, Myrtie Ann Gray of Tucson, and Willa Dean Crittenden of Tucson; brother, Roy Lee Herbert of Cottonwood; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son Clay Herbert. A viewing for Thomas will be held on Monday, April 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Safford. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9th at the Ft. Thomas LDS Chapel, with Bishop David Ward officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to services. Final interment will be in the Ashurst cemetery.
