Wendell S. Catlin In Memory Of Our loving father, husband, grandfather and friend, Wendell Sherman Catlin, age 69, passed away October 17, 2007, in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Wendell was born October 29, 1937, in Kenilworth, Utah, to Quartus Lloyd and Isabell Fontella Sherman Catlin. He was raised in Carbon County and graduated from Carbon High School in Price in 1955. He also attended the College of Eastern Utah and Radio Institute. He married Jolene Moran in 1956; they were the parents of six children and were happily married until Jolenes passing in November of 2001. He began his career with the Utah Highway Patrol in 1961 as a Radio Engineer and advanced to Radio Manager, retiring in 1983. He worked for the Utah Department of Public Safety as Bureau Chief and then State Division of Information Technology Services until 1995. He married Elizabeth Beth Barker in September of 2003 and they spent the last years of his life together. He enjoyed traveling and was proud to have visited all 50 states and several foreign countries. He was an avid bowler and participated in the Mens National Bowling Tournament every year. He also enjoyed annual fishing trips and playing billiards with his many friends. He was a life-long learner and had many interests and hobbies. One of his favorite things was spending time with family and friends - he always had a story or joke to tell and loved to make everyone laugh. Survived by his wife, Beth; children: Sheri (Steve) McKendrick, Wendy (Greg) Lister, Rick Catlin, Bruce Catlin and Barbara (Joseph) Ray; stepchildren: Diane (Shane) Josie, Brad Lindgren, Michelle (Lex) Lindgren; 7 grandchildren: Mike and fianc, Kim, Missy, Austin, Dusty, Brock, Nicole; great-grandson, Skyler; step-grandchildren: Melissa, Jason, Amber, Heidi, Mitch, Miranda, Kassidy, Derik, Brandi, Ashley, Lexie; 8 step-great grandchildren; siblings: Ardy Winn, D.L. Bud Catlin and Mavis Wilson. He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Shirley Cooley; wife, Jolene; daughter, Brenda BJ. The family would like to thank his doctors and the staff at CareSource Residence Hospice Center for their respectful and compassionate care of Dad. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Granger South Stake Center, 4586 West Volta Avenue (3960 South). A viewing will be held Sunday, 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 10-10:45 a..m. prior to services.
