William Edward Chancellor, Jr. Eddie was born in Watseka, Illinois to William Edward Chancellor and Mildred Foster Chancellor on July 11, 1949. Eddie was raised on an Illinois farm, where, in his early years, he enjoyed farm chores and shelling ear corn on an old-fashioned corn sheller. He attended Woods School in Pennsylvania for one year and also attended the Wells School in Watseka. Around 1970 he moved to Safford, Arizona where he attended first at the ARC and then at the Graham County Rehabilitation Center where he especially enjoyed greeting customers in the Thrift Store. Eddie would ask customers where and when they were born. Thereafter he would always remember that information, especially the place of birth or where they had come from. Eddie enjoyed the Special Olympics performing the softball throw and race walk. He won medals and ribbons locally and at state. Bowling was another event that he enjoyed. Eddie passed away at home on Friday, May 17, 2013. Many assisted in his care. Both parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Dorine Chancellor of Safford. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the First United Methodist Church of Safford. Pastor Robert Holliday will conduct the service. Graveside rites will be held at FairLawn Cemetery, Kentland, Indiana. Services will be provided by Chauncey Lattimer, pastor of the Darrow Community Christian Church where Eddie was baptized. Memorials may be given to the Graham County Rehabilitation Center in Safford, the local Special Olympics, or to the donors choice.
