William Wallace "Bill" Damron
William Wallace "Bill" Damron, of York Valley, passed away peacefully in his home with his wife and sons at his side. He was 92 years old. Bill was born August 29, 1925 to Eugene Damron and Harriett Moody Damron. He was the youngest of 10 children.
Bill attended Thatcher High School where he played football for the Eagles, they were undefeated that year. Bill served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1946. He shuttled pilots while stationed in the Pacific Theater of Operations in Guam. Bill and Helen were married in 1948 and were the proud parents to six children, Wayne, Jimmy, Doug, Fred, Rhonda & Chris.
Bill retired from Phelps Dodge as a painter. He painted houses, locomotives and the smokestack. After Helen passed away he married Eva Arrow and became step-father to her son Terry Arrow. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, going to the lake and his pecan trees, which he affectionately called "the nut farm". He loved getting together with his family. He was a faithful, life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bill is survived by his wife Eva, sons Wayne (Deanna) Damron, Doug (Lynn) Damron, Fred Damron & Chris (Martha) Damron. He was grandfather to 18 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 41 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen, son Jimmy, stepson Terry and daughter Rhonda and parents Eugene and Harriett Damron.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services for Bill will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duncan Stake Center.
