William Geer

William Callaway Geer Jr. 1927 ~ 2008 William Callaway Geer Jr. 80, passed away March 16, 2008 in West Valley City, Utah. He was born December 25, 1927 in Vancouver Barracks, Washington to William Geer Sr. and Elda Thomas. Bill joined the Merchant Marines during WWII when he was still too young to enlist. He then joined the Army in 1946 and served his country for more than 20 years. He married Doris Martin in 1950 and fathered six children. He retired from military service in 1967 and then worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1980. Bill was an avid golfer and member of the MeadowBrook Mens Association for many years. He played duplicate bridge for many years and attained the status of Bronze Life Master. He is survived by Doris Geer, his wife of more then 57 years; their children: Michael, Charlotte (Dan) Lindstrom, Barbara (Richard) Hayhurst, Grant (Angie), Bryan (Paula); 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, William E. Geer; and his parents. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 21, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT where the family will receive guests and friends starting at 1:00 p.m.
