William Christopher Konvicka Chris William Christopher Konvicka, known as Chris, beloved son of William Nelson and Marrial Clark Konvicka, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2007, from pancreatic cancer and many other complications following a 26 year battle with severe health problems resulting from an injury. Chris lived in Provo, Utah; Elko, Nevada, and Butte, Montana, before returning to Utah to live in Taylorsville for 46 years. He attended Granger Elementary School, Taylorsville Elementary, West Lake Junior High School and Granger High School. He also received special training through the Vocational Rehabilitation Program in lapidary work. He became a well-known and skilled silversmith. He loved creating his jewelry pieces and produced some outstanding rings, winning many blue ribbons in both county and state fairs. Chris was a generous person. He loved the out-of-doors, animals and his freedom from set schedules and obligations. He also loved his family and was very proud of them and their accomplishments. Chris is survived by his parents; brother, Roger Alan Konvicka; sisters: Thamasin (Rich) Dana, Allison Dent/David Leo, Tara Ann (James) Downes; nephews, Anthony Downes and Robert Downes. The family would like to express gratitude to St. Marks Hospital, CareSource and South Valley Health Center for their care of Chris this past month. We also appreciate David Hansen, a friend, for his caring visits and concern during his illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2007, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
