William D. Meredith The Tootsie Roll Man Our loving husband, father and grandfather, William Douglas Meredith, 83, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer May 8, 2010. Born February 28, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of George Carlisle and Mary Nielsen Meredith. Married Lillian Marcel Egli August 25, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving as a missionary in Toronto, Canada, as a bishop and in many other callings. Survived by wife, Lillian; children: Sheila Carty, Pamela (Dan) Williams, Lisa (Val) Christensen, Douglas George (Shawna) Meredith, Russell William (Natalie) Meredith, Carla (Milt) Drake and Matthew Eugene (Sherri) Meredith; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Patricia, grandchildren: Danielle, Christopher and Kalyssa. The family wishes to thank Hospice for Utah care givers, Paula and Nolan, for their kind service. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville Gardens 1st Ward, 4200 South 1900 West. Viewings will be held Friday, May 14, 2010, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:40 a.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
