Zona Peck, 81, of Safford passed away at home on July 18, 2012. Zona was born to Chuck and Ethel Wamsley on December 29, 1930 in Graham County. After marrying Wendell Peck on August 30, 1947 they moved to Morenci where Wendell worked for Phelps Dodge. Wanting to own their own home, they moved to Safford in 1957 while Wendell continued to work for Phelps Dodge. After purchasing their first home on 3rd Avenue they replaced it with a new home in 1961. Zona attended cosmetology school in 1958. After working in a few beauty shops she opened her own shop next to her home in 1959. She worked there for 51 years and closed the beauty shop in 2011 due to health problems. Zona loved all kinds of arts and crafts; making quilts, wooden toys, baby blankets and ceramic figurines, taking care of the yard and flower beds. Zona was preceded in death by her husband Wendell. She is survived by her two sons; Kent (Ginny) Peck of Thatcher, Arizona and Bob (Kim) Peck of Pensacola, Florida, grandchildren; Eric (Anita) Vanderbloemen, Ian (Amy) Vanderbloemen, Aaron (Haily) Peck, Alex Peck, Leslie (Greg) Vierheilig, great-grandchildren; D.J., Kadi, Jake, Tyler, Oz, Lex, Cy, Madison, Simon, Sebastian, Zona and sister Jocie Kempton of Coolidge, Arizona. Viewing will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
